Frequently Asked Questions

What are we about?

Bow Valley Christian Church is seeking to be a Christ-centred, Bible-believing, non-denominational congregation. Our mission: Making more and better disciples of Jesus Christ.

Part of our vision for accomplishing this mission is to establish site churches across Calgary. Currently we have two sites – Mahogany Church, and Skyview Ranch.

What other churches in the city is BVCC closely affiliated with?

We attempt to work closely with other evangelical churches in Calgary on various projects. Some of our sister congregations include Northern Hills Christian Church, Oak Park Church of Christ, Calgary Church of Christ, Rosscarrock Church of Christ and River View Christian Church.

What is the size of BVCC?

We are averaging around 350 people in attendance every week.

What are your worship service times on Sunday?

We run a worship service at 10 am. Our service usually runs for about 75 minutes.

Tell me about BVCC’s programs for my kids?

We have a full program for your kids. Click here to find out more.

What do you have for Jr. High and Sr. High students?

Our Jr. High and Sr. High join together on Sunday nights at 6–8 PM run by our Youth Pastor, Trevor Zimmerman and a team of volunteer leaders.

How would I dress for a Sunday service at BVCC?

Typically, those who are part of BVCC dress more on the business-casual side but people are comfortable with a wide diversity of attire.

What style of music do you employ in your worship services?

Because our congregation represents a complete cross section of ages, we aim at a blended style of contemporary and traditional. Our people enjoy being led by a worship team accompanied by a diversity of instrumentation.

Why do you celebrate the Lord’s Supper/Communion every Sunday?

The New Testament says that the first Christians celebrated the Lord’s Supper when they gathered for worship (see Acts 2:46 and Acts 20:7). We find that the communion meal is the central part of our worship experience and an important weekly reminder of God’s grace.

What kind of Bible do you use?

We encourage people to use the translation of the Bible they find most useful and easiest to understand. Pastor Keith’s preference in his preaching is to use the New Living Translation Bible. Any texts that are used in the message are generally displayed on the screen.

Will I have to say anything, sign anything, or be singled out in any way as a guest?

As our guest, please consider the service our gift to you. We won’t make you wear a nametag or stand up and stick out from everyone else. We do have an Information Kiosk in our foyer, if you are interested in more information about our church. There is also welcome card in the back of each pew, that you can fill out and leave with the Information Kiosk.
