Ministry Highlight: Solace for Souls

By Gay Staroszik

We are women from different backgrounds, nationalities, and walks of life – with the common theme of being women living post-divorce.  We meet once a week to journey through the muddy waters of post-separation and divorce: emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

We’ve been frazzled, bewildered, lonely and afraid of our futures, but we have rallied with and for each other.  We have laughed, cried, and carried each other, and have grown stronger through it all.

We have had these common experiences in life, so we can share, understand, and empathize with each other in a non-judgemental environment.  We have formed important friendships.

Meeting weekly with others who have walked this path, we find strength in each other, and strength from Jesus, to hold each other up. Step by step we rebuild our broken lives, so we may shine again.  We share our love for each other, our love for Jesus, and our love for others in friendship and service, which involves volunteering at Wellspring and the Food Bank, as well as others.

We share delicious food, important stories, and events in our lives. Very importantly, we study scripture together and have great discussions.

We can cry together and help to make the burdens lighter, and we can laugh together.

We SHINE as a group of women who have moved from dark places in our lives to helping ourselves, and others less fortunate, to shine as well.

We SHINE as women of God who praise him for His goodness, light and saving grace.

We SHINE as transformed women, now friends for life.

God is Good.
