Two Summer Ministry Intern Positions Available
(Canada Summer Jobs Grant)

Status: Full-time Seasonal Contract (35 hours/week, $19/hour)
Duration: 8 weeks
Dates: Starting July 5, 2026 and ending August 28, 2026
Classification: Support Staff (Intern)
Reports to: Family Pastor

Context:

BVCC exists to help people find and follow Jesus. Our strategy is to create environments where people take their next step of faith in: belonging to Jesus’ Family, growing in a personal relationship with Jesus, investing their lives in His Kingdom, and shining His example and message of love wherever they go.

Role:

The Summer Ministry Interns will have the opportunity to engage with and support many of our ministries at BVCC with a special emphasis on our kids, youth and seniors ministries. They will be
involved in a variety of ministries from week to week and will work alongside different staff and ministry leaders to help them plan and run activities. Besides providing a supportive role to our team, the hope is that our interns will also have the opportunity to learn more about what it takes to run different ministries, and grow in their ability to serve/lead others in the church.

Role Expectations:

  • Consistently complete duties and responsibilities in a timely way.
  • Maintain a positive relational stance on all fronts.
  • Contribute to a positive and effective staff team dynamic.
  • A teachable and flexible approach to ministry.

Requirements: 

  • Be aged between 15-30 years on the start date of the job.
  • Have a valid SIN (Social Insurance Number).
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or been granted refugee status by Canada.
  • A passionate follower of Jesus who models strong faith in God through their character and lifestyle.
  • A demonstrated desire to see young people and/or seniors find and follow Jesus.
  • Demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit and regular practice of spiritual disciplines.
  • Fully aligned with the beliefs, message, mission and ministry strategy (see context above) of BVCC.
  • Compatible with the ministry philosophy of the BVCC Elders, the Lead Pastor and the Family Pastor
  • A member in good standing of Bow Valley Christian Church.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with BVCC pastors/staff/volunteers.
  • Demonstrates creativity, innovation, and flexibility as well as strong organizational skills.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for our Kids Ministry Director in running Sunday morning programs for our kids.
  • Provide support for our Youth Pastor in conducting various duties to develop our Youth Ministry.
  • Provide support for our Community Life Pastor to develop Senior Ministry.
  • Assist and support other various staff and ministry leaders to develop their ministries.
  • Help to run our Church Family Picnic (June 21).
  • Help our Family Ministry team run the kids areas at our Annual Stampede Breakfast (July 11).

Tasks (minimum functions):

  • Serve in various Sunday Volunteer Roles as Needed.
  • Help with Sunday Program Material Prep (Craft materials, printing, cutting etc.).
  • Help to organize, supply and clean our Ministry Resource Room.
  • Help to update our classroom and kids ministry area décor/design (may include painting).
  • Update and maintain our electronic profiles in Planning Center.
  • Attend weekly BVCC Staff Meetings (Tuesdays at 9am).
  • Meet regularly with various Pastors/Leaders to discuss and pray for ministry.
  • Help our Family Ministry team develop a follow-up plan for new families (emails/postcards).
  • Potential to help with some website development and redesign.
  • Support our social media team with various things including taking pictures, videos & posting.
  • Potential to help volunteer for a week at Pine Lake Christian Camp.
  • Other various tasks that may arise.

Schedule:

  • Hours can vary or be adjusted somewhat based on weekly responsibilities.
  • Typical hours could be 9:00-4:30 Tuesday through Friday.
  • 7:45-12:45 Sundays.
  • 1 hour/week of dedicated personal Prayer/Study/Worship/Devotion.
  • Occasional alternate hours for special events (Picnic, Stampede Breakfast, Kids Camp).
